Heavy Lift Moving Co has just helped my husband and I. They went above and beyond my expectations. I have such a tight stairway that turns and they were able to get everything around the corner and moved for me. I couldn't have done it without them. They were very strong and worked with care.
The crew at Heavy Lift Moving was awesome! They worked hard and fast to fill up my moving pod. They packed the pod like a game of Tetris and didn’t waste any room. The guys were polite and friendly too.

Moving Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re planning a move and looking to save some money, timing can make a big difference. The cheapest day to hire a moving company often depends on your location, demand, and flexibility — but generally, weekdays are your best bet.

In Salt Lake City and throughout Utah, moving rates tend to be lower Monday through Thursday, since most people prefer to move on weekends. With fewer bookings, companies like Heavy Lift Moving Co often have more availability and can offer more affordable options during the week. On the other hand, weekends and holidays are in high demand, which means prices are usually higher.

If you can, avoid moving during peak season — typically May through September — when the weather is warm and demand skyrockets. Instead, plan your move for the fall or winter months, when moving companies tend to offer lower rates and more flexible scheduling.

Another great way to save is by booking early. Most professional movers offer discounted pricing for customers who reserve their moving date ahead of time. Early planning not only locks in a better rate but also gives you more options for choosing the day and time that works best for your schedule.

At Heavy Lift Moving Co, we pride ourselves on providing affordable, high-quality moving services in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Whether you’re moving locally or out of state, our licensed and insured movers make sure your belongings are handled with care, efficiency, and respect.

Great experience with Heavy Lift Moving Co! They were able to help me out last minute, showed up right on time, and provided really good service. Everything went smoothly and I’d definitely use them again.”

Reviews like this remind us why we do what we do — helping people move stress-free, even when it’s last-minute or on a tight budget. Our team works hard to make sure every customer feels confident and taken care of from start to finish.

If you’re searching for professional movers in Salt Lake City who offer fair rates, flexible scheduling, and friendly service, contact Heavy Lift Moving Co today for a free quote. We’ll help you pick the most affordable day to move and make your relocation easy and worry-free.

Our team of experienced movers is dedicated to making your move as smooth and stress-free as possible. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and handling your belongings with the utmost care. For a detailed quote and to learn more about our services, please contact us directly. We’ll be happy to assist you with your upcoming move in Salt Lake City.

When planning a move, one of the first questions that comes to mind is, “How much will it cost?” The cost of hiring movers in Salt Lake City can vary depending on several factors — including the size of your home, the distance of the move, how many belongings you have, and any extra services you might need.

To get an accurate estimate, it’s always best to contact moving companies directly and share the specific details of your move. This helps ensure that the quote reflects your actual needs — whether it’s a simple local move or a full-service relocation.

On average, local movers in Salt Lake City typically charge between $80 and $100 per hour for a crew of two movers. However, this rate can fluctuate based on the company, time of year, and demand. If you’re moving on a weekend or during peak season (May through September), rates may be slightly higher due to increased demand. Scheduling your move during a weekday or off-season can often help you save money while still getting professional service.

At Heavy Lift Moving Co, we believe in transparent pricing and honest communication. We provide free, no-obligation quotes so you always know what to expect. Our goal is to make your move affordable, efficient, and stress-free — without hidden fees or surprises.

I had a great experience with Heavy Lift Moving. They fit me into their schedule on short notice and did a great job relocating a heavy treadmill from my guest room to the garage. There was a minor scheduling issue on their end the morning they were supposed to arrive, but it was handled quickly, and they could still see me the same day. I would utilize their services again.”

Reviews like this show our commitment to customer satisfaction, flexibility, and problem-solving. Whether it’s moving large equipment, fragile items, or entire households, our licensed and insured movers in Utah handle each job with professionalism and care.

Learn more about Daybreak
Daybreak is one of Utah’s most popular master-planned communities, located in South Jordan. Families love the wide sidewalks, clean parks, and dozens of walking trails. The Oquirrh Lake area is perfect for paddleboarding or fishing on weekends. Schools like Daybreak Elementary and Copper Mountain Middle School are highly rated, and the neighborhood hosts year-round events, from farmers markets to movie nights on the lawn.

🏔️ 2. Sugar House – Salt Lake City

Explore Sugar House
One of the oldest and most charming neighborhoods in Salt Lake City, Sugar House offers a mix of trendy restaurants, cozy shops, and peaceful parks. Sugar House Park is a family favorite for picnics, sledding in the winter, and outdoor festivals in the summer. With top-notch schools and easy freeway access, it’s ideal for parents who want city convenience with suburban comfort.

🌆 3. Draper

Discover Draper City

Draper also has a growing job market and quick freeway access — perfect for commuting parents.

🌄 4. Lehi – Silicon Slopes

Visit Lehi

🌦️ How Do I Prepare for a Move to Utah’s Diverse Climate?

Utah is famous for its stunning landscapes and four-season weather — from snowy mountain winters to hot, dry summers in the valleys. If you’re moving here, it’s not just about packing boxes — it’s about preparing for Utah’s unique climate so your belongings, your home, and your family are ready for every season.

At Heavy Lift Moving Co., we’ve helped hundreds of families relocate across Salt Lake City, South Jordan, Sandy, and Draper. Here’s what we recommend before your big move.

🏔️ 1. Know What You’re Moving Into — Utah’s Weather Zones

Utah’s weather changes fast depending on where you live.

 • Northern Utah (Salt Lake City, Ogden, Logan) — cold, snowy winters and mild summers.

 • Central Utah (Provo, Lehi, Spanish Fork) — a mix of snow and heat.

 • Southern Utah (St. George, Moab) — warm desert weather almost year-round.

If you’re moving to areas like Salt Lake City or Draper, expect freezing mornings in winter and triple-digit heat in July. This means your packing and moving plans need a little extra thought.

📦 2. Pack for All Four Seasons

Utah’s climate can swing 40 degrees in one day — so be strategic:

 • Label seasonal boxes. Keep winter coats, boots, and snow gear separate from summer clothes.

 • Protect electronics and wooden furniture. Temperature changes can warp or crack items.

 • Use plastic totes or heavy-duty boxes instead of thin cardboard to protect from moisture during snowy moves.

 • For summer moves, avoid packing candles, vinyl records, or perishable goods in the truck — the heat can melt or damage them.

❄️ 3. Plan Smart for Winter Moves

Winter moving in Utah can actually be smooth if you plan right.

 • Clear sidewalks, driveways, and stairs before movers arrive.

 • Lay down old rugs or cardboard inside to avoid water or mud tracking.

 • Keep salt or sand on hand for icy patches.

 • Hire local movers who are experienced with snow and ice, like the team at Heavy Lift Moving Co. — we handle winter moves all over the Wasatch Front safely and efficiently.

🌞 4. Beat the Summer Heat

Utah summers can get hot — especially in the valley.

 • Start moves early in the morning to avoid peak heat.

 • Stay hydrated and keep cold water on hand for everyone.

 • Protect furniture with moving blankets to prevent heat damage inside the truck.

🚚 5. Trust Local Movers Who Know Utah Weather

Utah’s diverse climate isn’t something every mover understands — but we do. Whether it’s snow in Sandy or sunshine in South Jordan, Heavy Lift Moving Co. is equipped for year-round moves.

📞 Call (801) 919-4831 or book online at heavyliftmovingcompany.com to get your quote today. We’ll make sure your move is safe, efficient, and climate-proof.

Utah’s housing market has cooled slightly since the pandemic boom, but it’s still above the national average.

 • Salt Lake City: Median home price around $550,000–$600,000

 • Sandy, Draper, and South Jordan: Typically $600,000–$750,000, depending on size and area

 • Lehi and Herriman: Newer homes and townhouses average $500,000–$650,000

 • Rent: One-bedroom apartments in the Salt Lake Valley cost $1,300–$1,800/month, while suburban areas are slightly lower.

Despite higher housing costs, Utah remains more affordable than places like California, Washington, or Colorado — especially when you factor in wages and lifestyle quality.

🛒 Everyday Living Costs

According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services and Numbeo, Utah’s cost of living index is roughly 5–10% below the U.S. average overall.
Here’s a quick look at common expenses:

 • Groceries: Slightly cheaper than the national average

 • Utilities: Around $150–$220/month for a mid-size home

 • Internet & cable: About $70–$100/month

 • Gasoline: Varies, but generally $0.20–$0.30 less per gallon than coastal states

🚗 Transportation and Commute

Owning a car is common in Utah, but public transportation is improving fast. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) operates buses, TRAX light rail, and FrontRunner trains that connect major cities from Ogden to Provo.

Average commute times in the Salt Lake Valley are around 25 minutes, well below national big-city averages. For families who live in suburbs like South Jordan, Herriman, or Draper, commuting into Salt Lake City is usually stress-free — except on ski weekends 😄.

🏥 Healthcare and Education

Healthcare costs are slightly lower than the national average, and the state has excellent providers such as Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health.

Public schools and universities like BYU and University of Utah also provide strong, affordable education options — another reason families choose to settle here.

🌄 Quality of Life vs. Cost

While housing prices have risen, Utah offers an unmatched balance of affordability, safety, outdoor recreation, and career opportunity. From skiing at Park City Mountain to hiking near Big Cottonwood Canyon, your weekends here feel like a mini-vacation — and most of it’s free.

🚗 How Easy Is It to Get Around Utah — Transportation and Commute Tips

Utah’s transportation system is one of the best in the Mountain West, combining modern highways, reliable public transit, and short commute times. Whether you’re moving to Salt Lake City, Draper, or Lehi, getting around is easy, efficient, and convenient — which is one of the many reasons people are relocating here.

At Heavy Lift Moving Co., we’ve helped countless families and professionals settle across Utah, and we’ve seen firsthand how smooth day-to-day travel can be once you know the local routes and options.

🛣️ 1. The Major Highways and Driving Life in Utah

Utah’s main highway, Interstate 15 (I-15), runs straight through the state — connecting Ogden, Salt Lake City, Provo, and St. George.
Other key routes include:

 • I-80 (east-west) connecting downtown SLC to Park City and the airport

 • Bangerter Highway (SR-154) — a fast local route through South Jordan, Riverton, and West Valley

 • Mountain View Corridor — a newer highway serving Herriman and West Jordan

Driving is the most common way to get around, and traffic is surprisingly manageable compared to bigger metros. Rush hour usually peaks between 7–9 a.m. and 4–6 p.m., but most commutes average just 20–30 minutes.

Pro Tip: Utah roads are well-maintained, but if you’re new to winter driving, consider snow tires or AWD vehicles for safety in icy months.

🚆 2. Public Transit – Easy and Reliable

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) runs an extensive public transportation system that connects major urban areas:

 • TRAX Light Rail – Three color-coded lines serving Salt Lake City, West Valley, Draper, and the airport

 • FrontRunner Commuter Train – Travels from Ogden to Provo, with stops in Farmington, Salt Lake, Lehi, and Orem

 • UTA Buses – Dozens of routes throughout Salt Lake and Utah counties

For many residents, the combination of TRAX and FrontRunner makes it easy to commute between cities without driving — especially for tech workers in Lehi’s Silicon Slopes or students traveling to University of Utah or UVU.

✈️ 3. Airports and Travel Connectivity

Salt Lake City International Airport is one of the top-rated and most efficient airports in the U.S. It’s only 10 minutes from downtown and offers direct flights to over 90 destinations, including New York, L.A., and London.

Regional airports in Provo and Ogden are expanding, offering more domestic flights each year — great news for business travelers and families alike.

🚴 4. Biking, Trails, and Walkable Communities

Many Utah cities, especially Salt Lake City, Daybreak, and Provo, are improving their bike lanes, pedestrian trails, and walkable neighborhoods.

 • Check out the Jordan River Parkway Trail — over 40 miles of paths through the valley.

 • Downtown SLC’s Greenbike program provides rentable bikes for short trips.

Suburbs like Daybreak and Sugar House are known for their community paths, parks, and easy walkability.

My husband and I used these movers before we got married to move both of our FULL houses into storage while our house was being built and into an apartment (the type of apartment that has long halls like a hotel and you have to buy a cart to lug in your groceries each week). We had high standards and they met every single one. Great customer service, hard working, CAREFUL, and a great value. I stopped by tonight to get their number to help us move into our house and realized in the middle of the chaos I forgot to leave them a nice review. You won’t be disappointed. I am not one to write reviews, but felt they earned a five star review. Great group of guys!
